My life changed when I discovered La Parisienne. Until then, I had not realized that I could find European-style chocolate-filled brioche right here in my home town of Morro Bay. Not to mention delicious croissants, tasty pastries, fabulous quiches and so much more.
Our family looks forward to hosting out-of-town guests so we have an excuse to visit La Parisienne. It's a nice place to stop in for a mid-morning snack, or an afternoon snack, or any other moment of the day. We have sampled many of the menu items at La Parisienne and have yet to be disappointed. The display shelves are full of traditional and European pastries as well as cleverly decorated cut-out cookies and many tempting varieties of drop cookies. Some of our favorite items are the soft yet hearty cinnamon rolls, the buttery and flaky croissants, and the melt-in-your-mouth brioche. The other display cabinet contains a variety of quiches, cheesecakes and tarts (the raspberry-almond tart is simply divine). Quiches come in some fabulous combinations such as crab and leek, salmon and asparagus, and the always tasty ham and spinach. You can purchase a slice of quiche-heaven for $3.25. A wide variety of hearty breakfast sandwiches are also available served on either a croissant or baguette for $3.25-$4.55.
For lunch choose from soup, salad, hot and cold sandwiches, and burgers ($3.50-$5.55). The tuna salad sandwich on a croissant is delicious, and for $4.25, it was big enough to last me for two lunches! Now, perhaps I just like to make things last, but it really was a hefty sandwich.
La Parisienne's dining area is quite small and very casual, with several tables outside. Menu items can be packaged nicely to go if you desire.
La Parisienne is located on Front Street (the road heading out to Morro Rock), and is labeled simply "Bakery" beneath the Front Street Inn and Spa. Check out their menu at www.frontstreetinn.net/laparisienne.html
