Taco de Mexico

Open Mon - Thurs 8am - 9pm, Fri - Sun till 10pm

Taco de Mexico is a deliciously dependable staple for Mexican food in Morro Bay. Conveniently located on the corner of Main and Dunes, Taco de Mexico is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking is easy, allowing for dining in, or picking up orders to go. (Table space is quite limited inside this casual restaurant).

Breakfast menu items include burritos, combos with rice and beans, and coronados. The menu for the rest of the day features burritos, tostadas, tacos, enchiladas, flautas, tamales, chile rellenos, taquitos, quesadillas and nachos. My husband and I are loyal fans of the delicious tacos and enormous burritos. The tacos are traditional Mexican tacos; two small soft corn tortillas with meat, onions and cilantro. The burritos at Taco de Mexico are made with rice, beans, meat, cheese, onion and cilantro all rolled up in a large flour tortilla. The meat choices for most items are; asada (absolutely wonderful), chile verde, chile colorado, carnitas, pastor (very tender and tasty), pollo, lengua, and vegetal. I recently enjoyed the chile verde tostada (although it was more than I could eat in one sitting). This higher-priced tostada is a large deep-fried flour tortilla bowl filled with meat, beans, rice, cheese, lettuce, tomato, guacamole and sour cream. Next time I'll try the tostada de maiz, which is half the price and I'm guessing half the size.

Taco de Mexico's menu items are priced well, starting at $2.00 for a taco or tamale, and going up to $8.50 for combo #4 (enchilada, chile relleno, rice and beans). Tamales can be purchased by the dozen, and special orders can be placed for a pound, pint or quart of your favorite meat.

Kids' Opinion; "Great bean burritos - really cheesy. I got two meals out of it!"

Taco de Mexico is located at 980 Main Street in Morro Bay.
