My life changed when I discovered La Parisienne. Until then, I had not realized that I could find European-style chocolate-filled brioche right here in my home town of Morro Bay. Not to mention delicious croissants, tasty pastries, fabulous quiches and so much more.

Open for lunch (11am - 3pm) and dinner daily

Jasmine Thai Cuisine is a welcome new addition to the Morro Bay dining community. The restaurant moved from a construction zone in Atascadero to its prime location on Morro Bay Boulevard. The dining area is quite small and offers a cozy atmosphere with a window on the world (or Morro Bay Boulevard to be exact). Recent renovations have added a few more dining spots near the bar area, and the overall decor is very tasteful with slate tile floors, wood furniture and rich colors.

Open 11am - 9pm. Closed Wednesday

Thai Boat is aptly named: Thai cuisine served in a boat-shaped building. The fare at Thai Boat is flavorful, and the kindness and attention shown to customers is delightful. The restaurant is situated amidst the bustle of a working pier, making the atmosphere quite casual. Most customers order to go, since seating is limited to two tables inside and two tables outside.

Open daily 11:30am - 9pm, Friday and Saturday until 9:30pm

Friends of ours have children that actually like Chinese food. Fortunately our kids like their kids, so we happily agreed to join them for the lunch buffet where our kids, not wanting to be outdone, ate more Chinese food in one sitting than they have in the last two years. Granted, most of the foods they liked were fried and swimming in sweet and sour sauce, but at least they didn't complain and my husband and I were able to enjoy our meal.

The Flying Dutchman is one of Morro Bay's many classic waterfront restaurants. Dining is available both inside and out with wonderful views of Morro Rock and the harbor. The menu is varied enough to satisfy appetites of land-lovers and sea-farers alike. You'll find standard dishes such as fish and chips and a burger, as well as a few creative options like local sand dabs and a delicious seared ahi salad.

Taco Temple achieves a unique blend of atmospheres by combining wine lists and surfboards, gourmet desserts and tropical decor. This North Morro Bay favorite offers a delicious and inventive menu of California-style Mexican dishes. The ingredients are fresh and nutritious - you can actually leave feeling full and healthy at the same time.

Open Mon - Thurs 8am - 9pm, Fri - Sun till 10pm

Taco de Mexico is a deliciously dependable staple for Mexican food in Morro Bay. Conveniently located on the corner of Main and Dunes, Taco de Mexico is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Parking is easy, allowing for dining in, or picking up orders to go. (Table space is quite limited inside this casual restaurant).

If you're in the mood for a hand-carved roast beef sandwich, Hofbrau is the place to be. The tantalizing aromas should help you find your way to the restaurant hidden behind the other shops. Hofbrau offers a casual dining atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Diners pick up a tray and place orders at the counter where the soups and salads are served cafeteria-style. At the beginning of the line is the roast beef, carved per order. It's difficult to get past the delicious smell and actually order something else, but whatever your choice, I'm sure you'll be pleased with it.

Ah Giovanni's. When you're hungry for fried oysters, there's just no other place. Giovanni's offers a unique approach to bayside dining with an outside window for ordering and picking up your meal (one of two in town). There are a good number of outdoor tables available, thanks to the remodel completed this summer (no inside dining here). The line can be quite long and you may have to wait some time for your food. However, the many seagulls and pigeons walking around should tell you that it's worth the wait.
